Mechanical Engineering Major - Sophomore
Utilizing the Navigate Student application to become more familiar with campus life my first year opened a lot of doors that I would otherwise have never known about, if this app was not recommended to me. I found that I could not only look at my course schedule, but I could also look at the time, place, and the teacher I had for each course. This was super helpful when learning my teachers’ names and walking routes to my classes.
When it comes to staying up to date with my appointments and finding information, Navigate became a go-to for detailed information. I found that the appointments I would schedule with my academic advisor were posted there, as well as any scheduled appointments with other Baylor departments. This paired with the departmental directory on the app was a great resource as any department I was curious about could be found there.
Another aspect of the Navigate app that surprised me was information it provided about my career goals and my major’s role in those career options. Of course, attending a university like Baylor, one hopes for practical resources that will help to set them up for success upon graduation. This application is one of those resources. You can see the different fields you can explore within your major, as well as the salary brackets related to that degree. Typically, when looking at any of these, I would use BearWeb, however, I have found that many of those that are offered on BearWeb are also offered on Navigate and then some.
One of the other benefits of the app is that because all the information is condensed into one app on my phone, I can refer to it as needed, instead of looking at paper or my laptop. This makes it a very convenient, at your fingertip resource, with very helpful information for navigating college life.
